About The Paula Bolton Collection

About The Paula Bolton Collection

We should really be called Serendipity, for it alll began as a happy accident - a chance meeting on a tropical island, started a chain of events which nobody could have forseen. Now over 15 years later, Paula designs for some of the most prestigious Museum and Heritage shops in the country and produces countless new collections for this catalogue every year.

The Balinese families who produce our jewellery have become our friends and two very different cultures exist in almost perfect harmony!

About our jewellery

The majority of jewellery in The Paula Bolton Collection is hand-crafted in Bali by special people who are as spiritual as they are creative. These are craftsmen whose skills have been handed down from generation to generation. Many of our pearl collections are sourced directly from manufacturers in China with their own pearl farms so our prices are very competitive.

The silver jewellery featured on The Paula Bolton Collection website is made from 925 sterling silver, often highlighted by 18 carat gold plate. We also produce copper designs embellished with silver which are clearly indicated. When the silver is over the required weight it carries a U.K. hallmark. A variety of semi-precious gemstones have been specially selected for their vibrant colours and delicate hues, including amethyst, garnet, peridot, iolite and citrine. For clarity of colour we have decided in some cases to use "Japanese" amethysts which are laboratory-grown from amethyst crystal. The pearls we use are freshwater pearls grown in the rivers and lakes of China. Swarovski crystal is occasionally used and the coral is farmed.

All our jewellery is presented in high quality boxes and silver chains are included in the price of pendants. Many of our large brooches also have pendant loops at the back which gives the wearer greater versatility. Chains are not included with these.

On a personal note

Paula lives in a small village in a beautiful part of rural Cheshire in the North of England. She is married with two children and a rapidly growing number of grandchildren! A self-taught designer with very original ideas, she is influenced by many different things. Enduring passions include Art, History and her garden which she shares with foxes, badgers other assorted wildlife and, at the last count, 43 species of wild bird!

Descended from a long line of restless travellers, Paula's father and grandfather were both born in Japan and her mother's ancestors were Dutch merchants who sailed to the East in the 18th century.
